His Holiness in Colorado

col_01In the evening of September 16, His Holiness and his entourage were greeted in Boulder, Colorado, by representatives of Colorado Ratnashri and members of Colorado’s Tibetan community.

col_02The next evening, following a traditional Tibetan dance performance by the Tibetan Association of Colorado, His Holiness gave a public talk on altruism. He stressed that altruism is a fundamental human value, and, using the example of the birdman Ralph Heath, he spoke about the power of the mind to transform our surroundings and our interactions with others. The zoologist Ralph Heath had raised and released orphaned birds and his efforts eventually led to the founding of the Suncost Seabird Sanctuary on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the largest non-profit wild bird hospital in the United States.

col_03On September 18, His Holiness gave the Five-Fold Mahamudra Torma empowerment, followed by teachings in the afternoon on Lord Jigten Sumgön’s Song of Realization of Five-fold Mahamudra. On Sunday, His Holiness gave the transmission of the Great Drikung Phowa in the morning and the teachings concluded in the afternoon with an Amitayus empowerment in the Machik Drupay Gyalmo tradition.
