![]() Under the supervision of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, work at the Milarepa Retreat Center (MRC) in New Zealand is proceeding considerably. On March 1 the welldrillers arrived at the land to start drilling for water up to 217 meters. Subsequently they laid the pipes up to the hill where the retreat huts will be constructed. In the meantime the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang together with Lama Samten, Lama Antse and members of the Drikung Kagyu Vajra Charitable Trust performed an incense burning offering for all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Dharma protectors and local deities. The incense burning puja is one of oldest Tibetan Rituals, deriving from the Bon tradition. This purifying ritual is done by burning different tree leafs and tsampa with butter and brown sugar and other ingredients as an offering mainly for the local deities. On March 25 began the preparation for the construction of the retreat huts along the edge of the woods. During the following days the foundations were laid out for a total of fifteen retreat huts. Among those there will be four with larger rooms with attached bathrooms which will be used for the traditional three-year retreat. In the future the meditation temple will be built further down the forest hill.
